These series of photos are of the Citywide Memorial Service held at the Sprint Center, October 17, 2015 for the firefighters Larry J. Leggio (Truck 2 - Station 17) and John V. Mesh (Pumper 10 - Station 10). Larry Leggio and John Mesh bravely gave their lives October 12, 2015 at a building fire in the neighborhood of Independence and Prospect Avenue. They perished when a structural wall collapsed upon them. Larry Leggio was a 17-year veteran and John Mesh a 13-year veteran of the Kansas City Fire Department. The services were organized by the IAFF Local 42 and many fire departments including Honor Guards, Captains, and Battalion Chiefs as far away as Montreal and Houston attended (a few photos of them are included here). Chief Paul Berardi gave a moving tribute to the firefighters and their contributions of service. Also present were the Kansas City Mayor Sylvester James, William Galvin, President of IAFF Local 42, and General Schaitberger of IAFF. [schließen]

Originally I was a 3D animator for the architectural firm HOK/Populous and have been in the field for 20 years. After technology made us obsolete, photojournalism filled the-hole-in-my-heart - meeting people from all walks of life, experiencing their struggles, their journey is what I now live for. The common bonds of the spirit, caring about the human condition, reflecting the beauty that the Good Lord creates, and the life of other performing artists is what I chase after. It is true that my 3D animation and classical ballet training does give a recognizable style to my photography, and I strive to reproduce how the human eye sees things - colors must look real, emotions must speak real. I also specialize in dance photography but would like to one day be sent to Syria and Afghanistan in the near future so I am working diligently on trying to find ways to do this... [schließen]
